Fanart focus – A year of Star Wars: The High Republic

Celebrating the end of the High Republic with a very special fan-produced calendar

Fanart focus – A year of Star Wars: The High Republic

Nothing makes me happier than seeing fan art inspired by the projects I’ve worked on. It's one of the greatest joys of the job.

I started writing as a kid, creating Doctor Who and Star Wars adventures long before 'fan fiction' was even a term. It’s where I first learned how to shape stories and craft cliffhangers. The thrill of seeing my name in fanzines gave me the confidence to submit pitches and pursue a career in publishing.

Simply put, without fan fiction, I doubt I'd be a writer today.

Having fan artists reimagine my work feels like coming full circle and puts a huge smile on my face, which is why I was positively BEAMING when a parcel containing this beauty arrived earlier this year…

The calendar was a kind present from Julien Morvan, A.K.A Crea Terra Designs, a brilliant artist George Mann and I first met at Star Wars Générations et SF 2024 in Cusset, France, last April.

Julien has been posting incredible Star Wars: The High Republic art for a few years now, largely focusing on the Padawans and their masters. What better way to mark the initiative's final year than a calendar of his work?

But, keeping them all to myself feels selfish, so I thought I'd share the months so far and will continue posting each new piece as it arrives.

Here we go!

Bell, Ember and Master Loden Greatstorm
Burryaga and Nib Assek
Reath Silas and Jora Malli

Talk about stunning! Thank you, Julien, for the wonderful gift. I'm in total awe of your skills!

If you want to see more of Julien's work then check out his Bluesky feed... and watch out for the next piece on April 1st!
