A perfect Sunday with...Pius Bak
Black coffee, Studio Ghibli and So I Watch You From Afar
Every week, a top writer, artist, actor or creator reveals how they’d fill their perfect Sunday, sharing their favourite comfort reads, movies, food… anything that would make their weekend great.
Today it's the turn of my Godfather of Hell co-creator Pius Bak.
Pius's perfect Sunday… brunch
A mix of sweet and sour popcorn with a jug of black coffee. I don't remember when and how I discovered it, but for me, popcorn goes reaaally well with coffee. I'm a sucker for popcorn and coffee separately, but having both, slouching on a couch while having a movie on is literally what I've been doing on many Sunday mornings lately.
Pius's perfect Sunday… read
I have a running joke whenever somebody asks what I like to read, that I strictly read one book a year. I've never been a reader, I've always found it a bit difficult to concentrate on what I read, no matter if it's a book or an article online. But the book I read this year was Murakami's Hear the Wind Sing and I could say that this is a perfect and easy Sunday read for me.
Pius's perfect Sunday… comic
Anything from Satoshi Kon seems very suitable for a relaxing Sunday. But lately I've been enjoying Lobster Johnson. I really like Tonči Zonjić' artwork, so it's also been a really good study material.
Pius's perfect Sunday… movie
I've seen all Studio Ghibli movies dozens of times by now, but it still gives me comfort having any of them on in the background while I do anything in the house on the weekends.
Pius's perfect Sunday... TV binge
So the last TV show I watched was House of the Dragon. A pretty boring answer, but the show is peak TV for me. It's way better than the original, but I have my fingers crossed that they don't mess it up in later seasons like they did Game of Thrones.
Pius's perfect Sunday… album
Not very relaxing, but I've lately been re-listening to one of my favourite Post-Rock bands, And So I Watch You from Afar. My favourite album from them is also called And So I Watch You From Afar.
Pius's perfect Sunday… treat
Going to a bouldering gym. It's a somewhat new passion of mine. I've never been very excited about exercising, but ever since I discovered bouldering it's become a favourite treat for me.
