A perfect Sunday with... Heather Antos
My Favorite Murder, french toast, and Legally Blonde!
Every week, a top writer, artist or creator reveals how they’d fill their perfect Sunday, sharing their favourite comfort reads, movies, food… anything that would make their weekend great.
Today, it’s the turn of editor supreme for IDW’s awesome Star Trek line, Heather Antos!
Heather’s perfect Sunday… brunch
The best brunch to me is that perfect French Toast with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and some fresh berries. Add some bacon and *chef’s kiss!* Oh, and a fresh hot latte (vanilla with oat milk, please!).
Of course, no brunch is complete without the perfect company. Can my dogs join?
You can come, too, Cav!1
Heather’s perfect Sunday… read
Considering how much I read for the day job, it’s been really hard lately to settle down and pick up a book for fun. I tend to stick to memoirs or other non-fiction titles as my brain won’t be able to focus on ‘story structure’ as much as it has to for the day job.
Recently I’ve been chipping away at Matthew Perry’s memoir Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing – it’s one of the best-written memoirs I think I’ve ever read! I’d say I’d highly recommend it…but also it’s very depressing, so maybe not.
Heather’s perfect Sunday… comic
Volume two of The Nice House on the Lake arrived on my doorstop recently and I haven’t had a chance to crack it open yet…I can’t wait to! One of my favorite modern horror reads of recent times!
Heather’s perfect Sunday… movie
My two favorite comfort films of all time are Legally Blonde and Zodiac.
I think I’ll leave it at that and not explain any further :P
Heather’s perfect Sunday… TV binge
I mean, quite literally this past Sunday my partner and I binge-watched the most recent season of Barbeque Masters Showdown on Netflix, so I supposed that? I also am a sucker for any trashy dating reality television show.
Heather’s perfect Sunday… podcast
I am big on podcasts. I tend to listen to a ton while working, working out, driving, grocery shopping…chances are I’m listening to a podcast RIGHT NOW!
As a stereotypical 30-something white American woman, I must unashamedly admit my love for True Crime, so naturally My Favorite Murder, Buried Bones, True Crime Obsessed, and Scam Goddess are in top rotation. I also quite enjoy the health and wellness podcast True Beauty Brooklyn, the mental health awareness podcast Your Mental Breakdown, and of course the ridiculous news stories podcast Bananas. All of which I HIGHLY recommend.
Heather’s perfect Sunday… album
Again, as a stereotypical 30-something white American woman, I’d be remiss to not mention my love of Taylor Swift. Her most recent album, Midnights, is nearly always on repeat when I’m playing music. But if I’m looking for something a little more upbeat, you can usually find me listening to Fitz and the Tantrums.
Heather’s perfect Sunday… treat
A REAL Sunday treat for me when I am able to find a few hours to myself where I’m not catching up on overdue commissions or freelance or housework and can relax into a video game world. I’m a HUGE fan of the Assassin’s Creed franchise and having been focusing on finishing the Valhalla game before their new title arrives later this year. I’m ALSO playing through the new Star Wars: Jedi – Survivor game and I am LOVING it. So good!
IDW’s massive Star Trek event DAY OF BLOOD gets underway July 19th! Don’t miss it!
Always a storyteller at heart, Heather’s spent her entire life chasing inspiration and connecting others with theirs. She’s been fortunate enough to make a living out of doing so as an Eisner, Harvey, and Hugo nominated editor and story consultant for companies like Marvel and Lucasfilm, as well as independent creators worldwide. To her, there is nothing quite as fulfilling as helping writers and artists make a good story great. And there is nothing more rewarding than connecting that story with audiences around the world.
